FAQ's
It is recommended that you download the CarPlayer program from here as it will install in the Programs folder and create a shortcut on the desktop.

There is a car player folder on the Compact Flash Card. I suggest you delete that folder and that folder only. Do not the system or Records folder.

There have been instances of users trying the format the card from within the card using the car player on the card. This will not work.

It was only intended as another copy should you lose the cd.

Q: What is the CD for that came with the system?
A: It has a copy of the Operation manual in PDF format and the Car Player Program
on it as well. I strongly suggest you that you copy the Car Play Folder to your desktop
or other location on your computer then open it and run the car player from there. If
you run it from the CF card and do a format, the system will not work because it cannot
format itself properly and copy the system files needed to operate the camera.

Q: Do I need to format the CR card that comes with the dash cam?

A: No. It is already preformatted and ready to go. You never have to format
the CF card unless you want to delete all the recordings or format a new
Card. The format installs the programming needed to operate the dash cam
and a new card will NOT work until you format it in the Car Player program.

Q: My Compact Flash came with some video already on it. Is this a used product?

A: No. All systems are tested at the factory for quality control prior to shipping.

Q: I do not get any sound on my videos during playback.
A: You have to enable sound on the unit when recording (red led will flash faster)
and in the player software by clicking on the speaker icon.

Q: I want to put a bigger Compact Flash card in my system but it is not working.
A: You must format the new card and any cards in the player software. It will not
work in the system until you do so.

Q: Can I format the card using Windows?

A: No. You have to use the carplayer software on the CD or you can download it on the
     left  of this page.
Insert the card in the adapter or if you computer has a built in reader that is fine.
     Open the Car Player software.
     Click on the tools tab.
Click Format, then browse, then click on the + next to my computer and select the
drive letter of the CF card.
Then click on Format. It takes about 30 minutes for an 8gb CF card. Maybe less.

Q: The time and date is not correct that is embedded in the video.
A: You must put the CF card in the supplied reader and open the Car Player
software. Then click on the tools icon and select the synchronize option.

Q: I syncronize the time but it is still not showing the correct time on the files.
A: When you sync the card at the computer, you will need to power up the dash
dash cam until it boots up and the orange led is no longer lit. The dash cam has
succesfully read the card and updated the time.
     Note:
You might want to set your computer
a few minutes ahead to cover the time between sync and boot up if desired.

Q: When I open the player I do not see any recordings.

A: You have to select the path of the CF card by going through My Computer and
click on the drive letter that is the CF card.

Q: Does the car player software work on a Mac?
A: At this time it only works on a PC running Windows.

Q: Is there a way to turn off the recording without unplugging the power?
A: When you move the lock lever of the CF card to the horizontal position it turns off
the recording function. To record, the lever must be in the locked position.

Q: Can I wire the unit direct to the fuse panel?

A: Just be sure to include a fusible link in the connection for safety.

Q: When I backup a video on my computer, it will not play because the file extension
      is .rec.

A: When you backup to your computer click the down arrow and change it to AVI files.
Then select the time range of the video you wish to save.

Q: It seems to hang Backing up the video.
A: It can take up to an hour or more depending upon the time span of the video. It is not
just copying it to you computer, but re encoding it to AVI format. Depending upon the
performance of you system, this time can vary. But it will complete.
Be sure to choose a path on your computer where you will be able to find the video. I
suggest the desktop or my documents.

     Note:
I prefer the AVI DivX codec option for my backups.
